I had to stop watching (and reviewing) the Cdramas a few weeks ago

So once again I came down with bronchitis in December. I was watching Eternal Love of Dream, which is set in the same literary universe as Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms - aka Eternal Love - (starring Yang Mi and Mark Chao). Eternal Love of Dream was produced by a different company/studio, but they managed to get many of the same actors for their parts of the story. The two shows are treated as connected for that reason (and because they tell 2 different stories from the books on which they're based).
The basic premise for Eternal Love of Dream is covered in Eternal Love (both lead actors, Dilraba and Gao Wei Guang, play their characters in both shows) but the Eternal Love producers didn't have the full rights to the story (which comes mostly from the second book, Pillow Talk).
Dilraba's character, the 9-tailed fox fairy princess Bai Feng Jiu (niece of Yang Mi's character Bai Qian) is saved by the Celestial Emperor Dong Hua. She feels compelled (as per her people's tradition) to repay his kindness through some kind of service. So she sneaks into his palace in the heavens to serve him, fails to win his recognition, and then turns into (and gets stuck in the form of) a fox fairy, and then meets him again in "the mortal realm" when his spirit is born there as a mortal child so he can experience 7 traumas.
Somewhere along the way, Bai Feng Jiu falls in love with Dong Hua, who for hundreds of thousands of years hasn't loved any woman (mortal or immortal).
The story kind of works in Eternal Love / Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms because they were able to mimic the main elements, but Eternal Love of Dream is a much more fulfilling take on their story.
I'll get around to writing a full review in the near future.
Meanwhile, I'm recovered from the bronchitis but what got me through it this time was taking two low-dose steroidal medicines for several weeks. And now I know why they tell you to stop taking them after TWO weeks. LOL!
What a trip! I hope I never have to do that again.
But that's also why I kind of disappeared from the forums for a while. Coming down off the medicines was pretty draining. It took about a week for me to start feeling normal again.
So I haven't been watching much television lately. Just wasn't able to focus my attention very well on anything.
