Could this be the Biblical rapture since all the good old people are going first?

The rapture isn't usually interpreted as people dying, but as people being swept up from Earth to preserve them from the horrors of the Tribulation.
So, in my opinion, we're not seeing the Christian rapture (by any conventional interpretation).

Whether it is or it is not, I have no way of knowing, but I am sure that it may and should inspire books to be written that will explore the topics of recklessness, responsibility, and the fallout from the breakdown of our society.

There have been many similarities between this year's events and some Biblical prophecies. A few I can think of off the top of my head include:
Fires in Australia and California
Massive fish die-offs in the seas
Donald Trump's constant lies and blasphemous behavior
